U-Start Conference in Milan will gather the best start-ups in the innovation industry

U-Start, a boutique advisory firm for entrepreneurs and investors from Europe, Africa and Latin America is holding a conference in Milan that aims to bring together all capital seed investors, early stage companies from the world of innovation and the world of European and U.S. venture capital, as well as new start-ups and speakers from some of the most interesting markets in the Latin American, Middle Eastern and African markets. The event will take place on the 13-14 of May in the Testori Auditorium in Piazza Città di Lombardia 1 and is organized in collaboration with the Regione Lombardia, Airbnb, Bird & Bird, Iberia Airlines, Italia Startup, Mailup, Onyx Consulting, Smartitaly, Startupbootcamp, Uber, Veespo, WhatAVenture, Economyup, Startupbusiness and Startupi as media partners of the event.

Milan will host a unique event in its genre, designed to facilitate the meeting between startups and investors from around the world. The event is proof of U-Start’s desire to consolidate its presence in Europe and emerging markets, by helping new businesses scale their business models across national borders through strategic partnerships with financing agents.

U-Start Conference also aims to present, through international speakers, the opportunities that digital technology offers for professional investors, family offices, and VCs that want to learn about and explore this innovative “asset class”. The conference will be filled with moments of knowledge exchange and analysis of trends in the current and future landscape of venture capital.

Some of the key-note speakers that will take to the stage are Ash Fontana, director of fundraising at Angelist; Lars Buch, co-founder of Startupbootcamp; Michael Stuenkel, Lakestar partner; Didac Lee, esteemed angel investor in new technologies; Simone Sole, founder of Ad4Ventures and Jimmy Fussing Nielsen, managing partner of Sunstone Capital.

The event will also include a competition among 19 startups from Africa, Brazil, Europe and Russia. The companies participating are the winners of four local conferences held by U-Start in Sao Paolo, Cape Town, Moscow and Lugano – result of a constant global research done by the international technology team to find the most promising startups – which took place during the past few months.

The startups competing in Milan to win an international “road show” and U-Start’s services for international business development are:

From South America: LoveMondays, ZeroPaper, Intoo and Nearbytes

From Africa: MellowCabs, WiGroup, SteadiDrone, Caperay Medical and Over

From Russia: Linguademia, Hell’o Baby, Piiine and myWishBoard

From Europe: Chicplace, Italist, Panna Cotta, CharityStars, LovetheSign and SwissLeg

U-Start Conference hopes to become an event that turns into a referent in Italy and southern Europe for seed investors. “We are very excited for the final event to take place in Milan and for the quality of the startups, speakers, and investors that are participating and have already participated in the four local events during the recent months,” says Stefano Guidotti, CEO of U-Start. He also pointed out that, “This event will be a great occasion to show the opportunities the market offers investors and startups. The countries in which we operate offer lots of investment opportunities that often remain isolated within their borders, and the conference is an excellent opportunity to show investors all over Europe the future billion dollar businesses.”

Attendees will also have the opportunity to have personal meetings among start-ups and investors, and a moment dedicated to networking.
